On the occasion of the 61ST Annual Assembly of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) organized in Graz,Austria from July 6-11, 2008, it was decided to entrust the organization of the 2ND IIW North African International Congress on welding and related technologies to the Technical Center of Mechanical and Electrical Industries (CETIME) in Tunisia, scheduled for May 2010.

This choice consolidates of the CETIME's adhesion to the IIW since July 2007 as Responsible Member Society for Tunisia. This Congress will examine all aspects related to welding and related technologies, as well as innovations and technological developments, with a view to the promotion of optimal output and quality. Its timeliness will support both national and regional efforts with regard to the development of infrastructure and the strategic industrial sector, established in preparation for the large-scale projects envisaged for the next decade (construction of a new airport, a deep water port, a refinery, off-shore oil platforms, etc.).
